When Gigabit Ethernet allows simple and cheap data transfer over long distances, this technology became interesting for machine vision too.

CANCam-GigE is available in three different lines:

• as camera or data grabbing and transmitter device
• as a small display device
• universal communication module

For CANCam-GigE there exist many input adapters to support analog or CameraLink cameras, but also sources which provide video in VGA or DVI format. In addition an VGA/DVI output interface card is available to send data to e.g. display devices.

For developers, who want to build their own GigE device based on the Sensor to Image GigE communication board or the FPGA Gige IP-Core, a reference design is available, which demonstrates usage of the resources.
