Cameras are the heart of a machine vision system. The quality of imagedata a camera offers, defines among others, what a machine can see. There exist different types of cameras: Linescan cameras are often used to inspect endless materials like in the paper industry. Linescan sensors only have one row of light detecting pixels. Areascan sensors have a matrix of light detecting pixels to make an image of an area. This type is used for object detection, surface inspection and measurement tasks for example. Beside standard cameras from Sony, JAI, Hitachi we have self-developed cameras for special purposes. Onuris is a high performance camera series with different linescan or areascan sensors. CANCam is a modular built vision series including intelligent cameras and GigE Vision compliant cameras and framegrabbers.
